# Understanding Your Role Canonical page: https://carecard.ca/knowledge/care-card-guide/program-coordinator/understanding-your-role As a Program Coordinator, you review the students, interns, and volunteers joining your program and decide whether their submitted documents meet your requirements. ## Where you fit in the hierarchy [#where-you-fit-in-the-hierarchy] CareCard has three levels of institution-side reviewer, each scoped to a different part of the organization: * **Institution Admin** — scoped to the whole institution * **Campus Admin** — scoped to one campus * **Program Coordinator** — scoped to one program A higher scope can see and do everything a narrower scope can, within its own area. As a Program Coordinator, you only see requests, submissions, and students that belong to your program — you won't see activity from other programs at your campus or institution. You don't sign up for this role yourself. An Institution Admin or Campus Admin grants it to you — either directly, or by sending you a role invitation you accept from your **Home** dashboard. Sign in the same way any CareCard user does; see the [Logging In](/care-card-guide/login) guide if you need a refresher. ## What you can review [#what-you-can-review] Two tasks make up most of your day-to-day work, and both are shared with Institution Admins and Campus Admins covering the same students: * [Reviewing Institution Access Requests](/care-card-guide/program-coordinator/reviewing-requests) — approve, reject, or ask for more information when someone requests to join your program. * [Verifying Requirements](/care-card-guide/program-coordinator/verifying-requirements) — approve, reject, or place on hold the documents students submit for their program requirements. ## What's yours alone [#whats-yours-alone] [Pre-Approving Students](/care-card-guide/program-coordinator/pre-approving-students) is available only to Program Coordinators (and CareCard staff) — Institution Admins and Campus Admins don't have access to this page. If your program already knows who's enrolled ahead of time, pre-approving them lets their join requests skip your manual review queue entirely.
