## What your assigned requirement may ask for [#what-your-assigned-requirement-may-ask-for]

* A proof-of-completion certificate showing your name
* The course or program name
* The completion date
* The issuing employer, provider, or Ontario training program, when shown

Keep the original proof. Ontario employers must provide written proof of
completion on request when the regulation's conditions apply.

## Current guidance [#current-guidance]

Ontario Regulation 297/13 requires an employer to ensure a worker completes
basic occupational health and safety awareness training as soon as
practicable. Prior training can satisfy the requirement when the worker gives
the employer proof and the employer verifies that the training covered the
required content.

The required topics include worker rights and duties, employer and supervisor
duties, workplace safety roles, common hazards, WHMIS, and occupational
illness.

## CareCard validity [#carecard-validity]

CareCard's current catalogue default keeps the certificate without an expiry
date. Reuse still depends on proof of completion and the receiving employer's
verification. Any newer training instruction in your assigned requirement
controls.
