## How to use this guide [#how-to-use-this-guide]

Every requirement has its own page, and they all follow the same five-part
layout so you can read them quickly once you learn the pattern:

1. **What this is** — a plain-language explanation of the document
2. **What to submit** — the exact items you need to provide
3. **Accepted proof** — which records and formats are accepted
4. **Good to know** — tips and the most common reasons submissions get rejected
5. **Validity** — how long the document stays valid

## Before you start [#before-you-start]

Some documents — police checks, work permits and blood tests — can take weeks
to obtain. **Start early** so you are ready well before your placement begins.

Requirements can vary slightly by program and placement site. If a document is
unclear — or you think one may not apply to you — always confirm with your
program before you submit.
